Shimano has just introduced the PD-R540 pedals as part of its 105 package. These "Lance's pedals for those on a budget" boast the positive traits of the SPD-SL retention system, but with a weight penalty and a less durable bearing system. Weight is 332g for the pair, plus 72g for the cleats and hardware, and the MSRP is US$69.99.
